The dream finally came true. Your Gospel Team, the professional gospel choir had the honor and privilege to perform at the 75th edition of the Festival de Cannes in France on May 19, 2022. This performance alongside Hollywood celebrities will be unforgettable.
The Festival de Cannes, one of the most publicized events in the world, is an international film festival held every year in Cannes for twelve days. Its purpose, in a spirit of friendship and universal cooperation, is to reveal and highlight quality works in order to serve the evolution of cinema.
The festival invites artists from all countries to give their personal representation of the world of today and tomorrow. Among the most illustrious film icons invited this year are Jeremy Michael Jordan, Ledisi Anibade Young, and Tayla Parx.
Background of the Stars
Tayla Parx, whose real name is Taylor Parks, is an American actress, musician, singer and songwriter. She is best known for her role as Little Inez Stubbs in "Hairspray" in 2007. She has played a key role in many series and films such as Gilmore Girls, Everyone Hates Chris, The Sims Spark'd, Beyond the Pretty Door, Love... & Other 4 Letter Words, Carpoolers, True Jackson VP.
Her career as a musician is as rich as it is fascinating. Ledisi Anibade Young, better known simply as Ledesi, is an American actress, writer, playwright, film producer, and CEO of her own label, Chinweya Entertainment. She is also Soul, Rhythm'n 'Blues and Jazz vocalist, and has been nominated fourteen times for the Grammy Awards.
Thanks to her nomination for a Shellie Prize in 1990 and her contribution to a local interpretation of "The wiz", she was hired by the Beach Blanket Babylon. It is with this cabaret that she will know her first great public recognition. A favorite singer of high personalities including Obama, Ledisi has performed nine times at the White House.
She played the role of legendary gospel singer Mahalia Jackson in Martin Luther King Jr.'s biographical film of 2014.
Since the start of her career, Ledisi has released eleven studio albums. Jeremy Michael Jordan is an American actor and singer. He is best known for his role as Winslow "Winn" Schott Jr. in the series Supergirl and that of Jack Kelly in the musical Newsies. Jeremy Jordan has been on Broadway since 2009, in Rock of Ages, before getting Tony's lead roles in the Broadway Revival of West Side Story, followed by Clyde in Bonnie & Clyde. His talent for singing also allowed him to break through on the screen, in the same register, first in 2012, with Joyful Noise, recounting a singing contest organized by a church choir, then in the second season of Smash, co-produced by Steven Spielberg.
Also in the musical context, the actor is featured in the romantic films The Last Five Years, alongside Anna Kendrick, then Emily & Tim. He made a detour through the theatre, performing the author J.M. Barrie in the play "Finding Neverland". Jeremy Jordan also participates in the cross-over musical episode with The Flah, starring Grady, a bar pianist.
Your Gospel Team on stage at the Festival de Cannes
To celebrate the launch of Tim Scott Bogart's new feature film Spinning Gold, Grammy Award winner Tayla Parx as Donna Summer, GRAMMY Award winner Ledisi as Gladys Knight, and Tonys nominee Jeremy Jordan as Neil Bogart, performed the successful songs of their characters on screen with the honorable participation of the gospel choir Your Gospel Team as a back up group.
For this solemn and historic performance, Your Gospel Team used a special option of 8 professional artists (soloist singers) and a repertoire that goes straight to the heart. The highlights in emotion of the performance are the coordinated and calculated movements of the dance steps, the vocal harmony of the singers in back-up with the 3 Hollywood celebrities during songs like Oh happy Day, Lean on me, Midnight Train to Georgia by Gladys Knight, Last Dance by Donna Summers, bad girls, The Greatest Time of My Life. Throughout the party, the sparkling energy of the singers was contagious.
This performance of Your Gospel Team at the Festival de Cannes was seen and described as particular, magnificent, poetic and sublime by the famous artists accompanied (Jeremy Michael Jordan, Ledesi, and Tayla Parx) and constitutes for the gospel choir a milestone towards great achievements, an ascension towards the achievement of its vision which is to maintain the position of prestigious and reference gospel choir in Switzerland and become leader throughout Europe in the production of authentic gospel shows.
