"Reims: The city of kings"

Reims is a town in north-eastern France in the Champagne-Ardenne region. It is the unofficial capital of the champagne producing region, and most of the major champagne houses that have their headquarters here offer tastings and tours of their cellars.  The triumphal arch of the 3rd century Mars Gate testifies to the city's past under Roman rule. For over 1 hundred years, French kings were crowned at the Notre-Dame de Reims Cathedral. The city is thus labeled "the city of the coronations" or "the city of kings".

Thanks also to its many cultural events, it is designated City of Art and History and has three sites registered on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

On the cultural level, Reims takes part in national cultural festivities such as the Night of Museums, the European Heritage Days, the Music Festival or A Summer in the Cinema.

Some cultural events and festivities in Reims:

• In May: the festival “Brut de scène”, intended for the amateurs of theater;
• In September: Jonglissimo, a juggling convention;
• In June: the Festival of Joan of Arc that gathers a large audience, as well as the international festival "Les Sacres du Folklore", which welcomes each year a dozen troupes of dancers and traditional musicians from all over the world;
• At the beginning of June, these are the Johannean feasts;
• During the summer, the Flâneries musical of Reims, during which are given more than 100 concerts, many of them free admission, in various places of the city.
• In November, Reims Sunnyside Festival, a festival dedicated to jazz.
• In December, the Reims “Scènes d'Europe” Festival invites artists from the contemporary European scene to invest in different cultural structures in Reims.
